Description

The BC862 is a dual-port media converter designed to enable the conversion of copper twisted pair (10Base-T, 100Base-T, or 1000Base-T) data to fibre optic (100Base-FX or 1000Base-X) formats. Supporting two channels (full-duplex) data transmission channels, it offers 10/100/1000Base-T duplex auto-negotiation, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance. Twisted pair inputs and outputs are equipped with data isolation transformers to maintain signal integrity and reliability.

Status LEDs provide at-a-glance indicators for power, network, and fibre activity, simplifying operation and monitoring. Bluebell’s design prioritises signal integrity, delivering jitter-free optical transport for consistent and reliable data transmission.

The BC862 is available in multimode and singlemode variants to suit diverse fibre applications. Configurations can be selected for full-duplex operation over two fibres or a single fibre, and CWDM options are offered in compliance with ITU G.694.2 grid specifications, supporting high-density deployments.

The module is compact and designed for efficient rack mounting. It occupies a single slot in the BC100/BC100i (3RU) 19″ rack-mount frame, which can hold up to 15 single-slot cards, or the BC160/BC160i (1RU) 19″ frame, which accommodates up to six cards. Enhanced reporting is available via SNMP if a BM102/BM102i network card is fitted to the rack. The rack provides all necessary DC power.

For stand-alone applications, the BC862 is housed in a rugged individual enclosure.

For single port applications, BC860 variant is available.
