Expanding upon the successful BlueNano range, the BN390 is designed to provide a cost-effective and reliable solution for transporting 4K UHD signals over fibre. Built on proven technology, these compact units enable the transmission of up to 4 × 3G-SDI signals over a single wavelength on a single fibre, delivering high-performance optical transport for modern broadcast and live production workflows.

The BN390 operates as either a transmitter or receiver depending on system configuration, performing electrical-to-optical conversion at the transmission end and optical-to-electrical conversion at the receiving end. Working as a paired system, BN390 units support advanced multiplexing, combining multiple SDI signals onto a single optical wavelength and efficiently demultiplexing them at the destination.

Designed for maximum flexibility, the BN390 supports multiple SDI standards including HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI, allowing seamless operation across a wide range of production formats. The system provides eight selectable operating modes to accommodate various format conversion requirements, including bypass operation up to 12G as well as multiple upscaling and downscaling configurations between HD, 3G, 6G, and 12G signal formats. Mode selection can be performed automatically via onboard signal detection or manually configured through the integrated web interface.

Each unit includes an RJ45 Ethernet port enabling remote monitoring and control via an internal webpage or SNMP, making the BN390 particularly suitable for installations where physical access is limited. The system can multiplex 4 × 3G-SDI signals into a single 12G-SDI stream, providing both electrical and optical outputs for flexible integration.

With optional ITU Grid CWDM wavelengths, the BN390 platform can scale significantly, supporting up to 18 × 12G-SDI channels or 72 × 3G-SDI channels over a single singlemode fibre, making it ideal for high-density camera and signal transport applications.

Power is supplied via the included compact PS12 power unit, with additional support for external DC sources ranging from 4.5 to 17 V via a 4-pin XLR connector. For modular rack-based installations, equivalent functionality is available through the BC390T and BC390R card versions within the BC Series platform.
