Description

The BC369 is a dual-channel, multi-format interface designed for use in Outside Broadcast (OB) and studio environments, supporting a wide variety of broadcast video, audio, and data signals. Each unit features four empty SFP carriers, allowing users to install optical, coaxial, Ethernet, HDMI or any SFP cartridges of their choice, making the device highly adaptable for diverse operational requirements.

The BC369 supports conversion between optical and electrical formats, wavelength management (conversion between wavelengths), and signal monitoring. It can regenerate multimode optical signals as singlemode (or vice versa) within existing fibre systems. With compatibility for a broad range of signal types, including 12G-SDI, DVI, composite video, MADI, and Ethernet, the BC369 accommodates data rates up to 11.88 Gb/s.

The “empty cage” format allows functionality to be defined by the user’s choice of SFP cartridges, enabling reconfiguration for different applications by simply swapping cartridges. While suitable for fixed installations, the BC369 is also ideal as a practical “toolkit” for broadcast engineers managing diverse signal formats.

The BC369 comes in two variants.
  • The standard BC369 is intended for use with transceiver cartridges and comprises two independent, bi-directional signal paths. Each path connects a pair of SFP carriers in both directions (Rx to Tx, Tx to Rx), with bicolour LEDs providing signal input status for each SFP.
  • The BC369D variant is designed for use with two dual transmitter and two dual receiver cartridges. It offers two independent signal paths, allowing up to four separate signals to be transmitted from input to output. Single-channel cartridges may be installed in either module type when only one signal path is required.

BC368 (2 SFP) and BC369 (4 SFP) are similar products which are modular card versions. The cards are part of the Bluebell Opticom BC Series and are compatible with all BC Series racks and enclosures, including the 3RU BC100/BC100i (15 cards) and the 1RU BC160/BC160i (6 cards). Signal and card status monitoring is available through the BM102/BM102i internal webpage or via SNMP for comprehensive network management.
