Description

The BC365T, BC365R, BC365TR, and BC365A are versatile plug-in cards from the Bluebell Opticom BC Series, specifically designed for reliable transport of 4K SDI video over fibre-optic links. These modular interfaces are ideal for demanding applications such as TV Outside Broadcast (OB), studio setups, large-scale sporting events, and music festivals. Compatible with SD, HD, 3G, 6G, and 12G SDI standards, they also support the transport of MADI data.

There are four variants in the BC365 series, these are:

  • BC365T Transmitter: Dual SDI inputs to dual fibre outputs.
  • BC365R Receiver: Dual fibre inputs to dual SDI outputs.
  • BC365TR Transceiver: Two independent channels – Channel A acts as a transmitter, and Channel B as a receiver.
  • BC365A Adaptive: Configurable as a dual transmitter, dual receiver, or transceiver, replicating the functionality of the BC365T, BC365R, or BC365TR.

All variants share a similar physical design, with the primary difference being the labelling on their faceplates. The BC365 Series offers a reliable, interference-free solution for extending the range of SDI video signals, ensuring exceptional performance across a wide range of broadcast and live production scenarios.

Cards are typically used in pairs: a BC365T at the remote location (e.g., camera station) is paired with a BC365R at the control centre (base station). For bidirectional operations, a BC365TR can be installed at both ends, providing simultaneous transmission and reception.

On all variants, the “copper” connections for SDI video use 12G-compliant 75 ohm BNC sockets, while the fibre optic connectivity is a dual LC optical connector in a standard SFP carrier.

Singlemode fibre operation will normally be at 1310 nm; alternative CWDM grid wavelengths are also possible. The optical option is generally specified at the time of order. The optical receiver will be wideband.

The module is compact and designed for efficient rack mounting. It occupies a single slot in the BC100/BC100i (3RU) 19″ rack-mount frame, which can hold up to 15 single-slot cards, or the BC160/BC160i (1RU) 19″ frame, which accommodates up to six cards. Enhanced reporting is available via SNMP if a BM102/BM102i network card is fitted to the rack. The rack provides all necessary DC power.

For standalone applications, the BC365 cards can be housed in rugged individual enclosures. Alternatively, BN324 from the BlueNano range can also be used as a throw-down unit for outside broadcast.
