Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexer/Demultiplexer
Description
The BC-4 is a passive device designed for the multiplexing or demultiplexing of up to four optical wavelengths onto or from a singlemode fibre optic cable. Each unit supports 4 channels with 20 nm wavelength spacing, based on the ITU G.694.2 grid specifications. By adding additional BC-4 or BC-8 cards, the system can transmit up to 16 independent wavelengths over a single fibre, providing a highly cost-effective solution for system designers working with third-party leased fibres or in Outside Broadcast (OB) applications.
For installation, the BC-4 can be housed in a rack-mounted frame or as a standalone unit. In a rack-mounted setup, it occupies a single slot in the BC100-3RU (15-slot) or BC160-1RU (6-slot) 19″ frame. For standalone applications, the BC-4 can be installed in rugged enclosures such as the BC101 (single-slot), BC102 (dual-slot), or BC120 (triple-slot), providing flexibility for diverse installation needs.
For systems requiring less/more capacity, the BC Series also includes the BC-2, (2-channel version) and BC-8 (8-channel version).
