TVM invests in Bluebell Opticom for fibre transport solutions

Ireland’s premier Outside Broadcast facilities provider TVM, invests in Bluebell Opticom for fibre optic links.

TVM has again chosen Bluebell’s fibre conversion solutions for providing video, audio, talkback and network connectivity between remote camera positions and their OB truck.

The company, whose clients include RTÉ, Sky Sports, TG4 and eirSport will use Bluebell’s Probe BASE6 – a rugged portable fibre optic system specifically designed for OB, ENG and SNG applications. The product has been designed to be used as a “throw-down” box which is connected to the truck via a Military Tactical Fibre Optic cable.

In this application, Probe BASE6 is paired with Bluebell’s BC100 3RU frame which houses the optical conversion cards at the OB truck end of the link allowing bi-directional transport of the signals over a CWDM link.

Bart Arnold, Managing Director at TVM says “Bluebell is our go-to supplier for fibre conversion products as they offer us the flexibility of tailoring their solutions to our requirements and packaging them in a form-factor required for field use. This combined with a versatile range of fibre conversion cards ensures they always have the right products for our requirements.”
